Developing a Best Practices-eTool for reducing VOCs emissions in the European Printing SMEs Industry according to BATs
Sector: GraphicArts
| Programme: Life
The objective of the BATsGRAPH project is to develop an eTool which makes possible to implement the Best Available Techniques (BATs) for reducing VOC´s (Volatile Organic Compounds) emission in the SMEs Printing Companies, derived from the STS (Surface Treatment Using Organic Solvents) BREF recommendation.

Development of an e-Tool for improving the environmental performance of European Graphic SMEs throughout their products Life-Cycle
Sector: GraphicArts
| Programme: Life
The main objective of SustainGraph is to develop a software Tool for characterizing the environmental impact of graphic products throughout their Life-Cycle and to guide the European SMEs printers in developing new sustainable services and products, according to the Sustainable Consumption and Production and Sustainable Industrial Policy (SCP/SIP) principles.

Development of suitable laboratory test methods for improved communication between printers, papermakers and ink suppliers
Sector: GraphicArts
| Programme: 7th framework
The focus area of this project application is the printing industry and in particular the sheetfed offset printing process. The offset printing process is a rotative reproduction process using unilevel printing forms and creating images via the differences of wetting properties during a competition of aqueous (fountain solution for non-image areas) and oily liquids (inks for image areas) simultaneously fed to the printing form.

Development of Advanced Technology Roadmaps in Photonics and Industrial Adaption to SMEs
Sector: Optics & Photonics
| Programme: 7th framework
The pilot project PhotonicRoadSME aimed developing individual technology roadmaps in the field of photonics in order to identify future RTD strategies for Europe within the next 5-15 years. These roadmaps identify trends in research and development and associate them to products and applications, outlining their technical and economical potential for problem solving for SMEs. Validation of these results has been performed by consultation of industrial and scientific experts.

Development of a mobile Pico-projector based data Displaying solution for Construction SMEs enabling the "paperless construction site"
Sector: Building
| Technology: Optical Engineering
| Programme: 7th framework
The PicoDiCon project will create a paperless on-line solution for construction workers to easily display up-to-date 2D and 3D drawings and other construction related materials on site. There is currently no user-friendly and reliable technical solution for replacing printed materials in construction sites by electronic information. The project consortium represents 9 participants from 5 EU countries. PicoDiCon will be an easy mobile device to use, reliable and affordable solution for construction SMEs, who can project high resolution information such as drawings, models, video, text documents on any flat surface compatible with a construction environment.
